08/17/2017 11:00 am 1:00 pm
Location: The Koehler Gallery, Fontana CA
Fontana, CA – California MENTOR is pleased to partner with The Koehler Art Gallery to present a mixed media exhibition of new pieces featuring artists from Cole Vocational Services, First Step and Unlimited Quest who provide support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “Looking Glass” Art Through Their Eyes will run from August 18th 2017 – August 22nd, 2017 from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. with an opening reception Thursday, August 17th from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Numerous gallery artists will be featured in the exhibition. Many of the works are pieces inspired by the individuals to show the world through their eyes, as they see it. These artists have overcome many obstacles, or are continuously working to conquer these obstacles, and their art is a channel they use to strive to reach their goals. Use of bright colors, varying shapes, multi patterned paintings on canvas, different textures on canvas, as well as special projects incorporating glass and mosaic tiles will be featured.
For many of artists, the use of shape and lines is important and color is often explosive. For this show, our individuals have stretched their imagination and were encouraged to think outside the box and create pieces of art that truly represent their freedom of ideas and their outlook, therefore, leaving versatility, skill and overall interesting work.
California MENTOR invites you to attend our Opening Reception on Thursday, August 17th from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at The Koehler Art Gallery located at 8536 Sierra Ave, Fontana, CA 92335. Guests will have the opportunity to meet some of the featured artists, as well as purchase artwork. Cash only.
