MagdalenaSolisMagdalena joined the California MENTOR team in 2007 and is now the Regional Director for the Central Valley.  With a passion for helping others, “Maggie”, as she is known by the California MENTOR team, has an unwavering commitment to the individuals and families her team supports.  She oversees an array of programs, including Intermediate Care Facilities, day programs, Family Home Agency programs, Supported Living, and a Crisis Response team.  As a caring leader, Maggie is always there for any member of her team and draws on her extensive experience in both children’s and adult services to effectively manage and continuously improve the organization’s services.

Before joining California MENTOR, Maggie went to the Dominican Republic to assist in assessing children with developmental disabilities living in an institution for possible transition into the community.  She was also a direct care staff member for boys with emotional and behavioral challenges in a group home and spent a summer as a research assistant for the University of California, Davis epidemiology department.

She is a graduate of UC-Davis, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a bachelor’s degree in sociology with an emphasis in law and society.  She is also a graduate of The National Leadership Institute on Developmental Disabilities at the University of Delaware.

“It’s not often that you find an organization with a mission that mirrors your own.  With California MENTOR, I get to be a part of a tremendous team that helps transform the lives of individuals and families throughout our state.”
